WELCOME TO FOOT INFECTION
                                        PAGE OF PODIATRY.IN

SINCE THE ADVENT OF METHACILLIN RESISTANT
PENICILLIN I HAVE SEEN SUCH INFECTIONS EVEN
ON A HOUSECALL.  THE PATIENT JUST LEFT THE
HOSPITAL AND HAD WHAT WAS DIAGNOSED AS
GOUT AND AFTER A CULTURE AND SENSITIVITY
WAS PERFORMED METHACILLIN RESISTANT
STAPH WAS PRESENT.
SINCE THE PATIENT WAS A DIALYSIS PATIENT,
THE DOSE OF ZYVOX WAS REDUCED AND THE MEDICATION
HELPED TO TREAT THE INFECTION. I BELIEVE ADEQUATE CIRCULATION IS NEEDED FOR THE ANTIBIOTIC TO BE
ABLE TO REACH THE INFECTED SITE.
I AM WELCOMING THE DISCUSSION OF
THE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS USED TO TREAT METHICILLIN
RESISTANT STAPH AND AM HOPEFUL THAT
OTHER PODIATRISTS WILL SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES.
PLEASE EMAIL ALL EXPERIENCES TO
